City-kingdoms

The city-kingdoms were the independent states into which Cyprus was divided from the Iron Age to the Hellenistic period. The Assyrian prism of Esarhaddon, dated 673 BC, lists ten Cypriot kings, though more kingdoms are known across the era as a whole. Some have been excavated and can be visited; others lie beneath modern towns and are barely investigated — each entry says which.
